I will try NOT TO GUSH. From the shadowing aspects, to the realism/yet surreal to the colour palette of warm glow on the chameleon the the steel branches this truly rocks. I thank you also for your SBS which is a lesson (for me) and a valuable tool to learn from. Thank you for being on this site.
(5 years and 501 days ago)What a grand idea to put this up in monochrome for it gives us a sneaky feel of the robot beneath. The blending looks well done here and not pasted on.
(5 years and 501 days ago)The comments given to you above are a goldmine of information, not only for you but to those of us struggling. I love your idea, it is truly creative...just needs polishing up.
(5 years and 501 days ago)ha ha ha ha....I just got the title! What a great imagination you have on all levels. The patch that is lifted throws me off , feels unbalanced a bit as it gets too much attention and not the robotic part...but that is just me.
(5 years and 501 days ago)This reminds me of the BORG from Star Trek (the episode with HUGH). I find the nose a tad of a distraction as it is not in focus. Woof!
(5 years and 501 days ago)The pieces on him need more blending, they look a bit pasted on but the humour is there solidly affecting the viewer.
(5 years and 501 days ago)This gave me a great chuckle. Thank you.
(5 years and 501 days ago)This is a photograph that enchants the viewer. It is illusionary, and has wonderful and powerful directional light, the impact is strong. Considering you shot this from a moving car you managed to hook a crisp anchor point. Frankly, it has winner written all over it. Top marks.
(5 years and 501 days ago)Nice square crop that always works with a circular focal point. The warm hues of orange both within and without draw us to the beauty of the "dirty" photo which doesn't look dirty except for the coffee grounds. Minimalism in theory...the minimalism of dirt. Again, very clever and I really like how you see your world around you.
(5 years and 503 days ago)Spring rain of pollen. I would not have minded to see more details of car as the windshield wipers are cut as is the headlight, both those cuts make me hunger to see more to complete the image. I admire your chutzpah for shooting this and putting it up....I remember a quote that goes something like this "photographs are everywhere, you just have to look" and that is what your upload reminds me of!
(5 years and 503 days ago)This is well done with the focus on the nut in good sharpness and clarity. You have a nice tight crop which captures dirt or rather that feeling of dirty throughout.
(5 years and 503 days ago)You nailed this shot. Your lighting was difficult in this situation but your shutter speed caught the action at its peak. This is shockingly good for story and technical expertise shown. Kudos.
(5 years and 503 days ago)WOW, where are you standing? There is some posterization of this image which is fine by me. Well done.
(5 years and 503 days ago)HOLY GUACAMOLE not only did I wait for it to load up for full effect, once it uploaded I couldn't believe how you made this image come to life! Simply spectacular. TOP MARKS and if you don't win I shall eat my lens cap!
(5 years and 503 days ago)I can see you are trying to think outside of the box in compositional style. For the romantic feel to be caught I would like to see these figures a bit closer. The guillotine cut of her head further detracts. However, the evening shot of the sun going down and the colour palette of subdued hues adds beauty to your upload.
(5 years and 503 days ago)You caught a real sweet quality, a tenderness and YES that is part of being romantic. I like the emotive pull this has but technically you need to have a sharp image, good focus on the focal points (the two monkeys) after all that is what you are trying to show us, right? There is also a bit of a mischievousness caught and makes me wonder if that one monkey is really a thief!
(5 years and 503 days ago)"Dogs look up to us, cats look down on us and pigs see us as their equals". Winston Churchill.
(5 years and 503 days ago)Pigs are quite intelligent and this shows in your photo, it has an emotive quality to it and I can tell you that this pig is a lot sweeter than my last boyfriend. It is too bad about that wire that cuts. Could you not have gotten a bit closer (that is a joke)? It is a great shot and for me it is the emotive power that pulls me in. Technical and tonal quality well done.
I wonder if a closer crop to eliminate that pink bag that steals attention from the floral arrangement would improve this shot, however, it is all about artistic prerogative? I bow to yours.
(5 years and 503 days ago)I like your composition of this photograph. You do have a dust spot on your gray area just above the stone to our L. Had the focus been sharp on the diamond instead of the cork, it would have been a stronger image.
(5 years and 503 days ago)Someone in this world knows how to have fun and keep love alive. I love this image for the clarity it shows, the story. A sharper DOF would have rendered the entire image in sharpness (the red rose) but it is a winner in my eyes.
(5 years and 503 days ago)This is actually a really great shot full of action, surprise, emotion and the technical quality is very well rendered. You caught a crowd on both levels the participants and the waiting and very excited public. IMHO it ought to have done much better.....can't figure it out....sigh.
(5 years and 505 days ago)I like this one a lot.
(5 years and 506 days ago)Nice one, congrats!
(5 years and 506 days ago)CONGRATS on this win!
(5 years and 506 days ago)The focus is off.
(5 years and 507 days ago)Tonal quality is really eye catching. Nice
(5 years and 507 days ago)Would have been a good entry for "dirty things". Do you have another?
(5 years and 507 days ago)clever, as always
(5 years and 507 days ago)Oh how my eyes long to see more of this. Had you taken it from a distance to show the surrounding area the story would have been more complete.
(5 years and 507 days ago)Yes, monochrome pushes this up!
(5 years and 507 days ago)Hi I think more focus would have worked better, but there is metal on metal here!
(5 years and 507 days ago)I agree with the comment above. But you surely did get a crowd and my curiosity piqued!
(5 years and 507 days ago)Congrats Lolu !
(5 years and 511 days ago)Congrats on this win. I LOVED IT....
(5 years and 511 days ago)Congrats on this well deserved win!
(5 years and 511 days ago)A happy snappy photo and the trees in the middle obstruct and shout for attention, but sometimes you just have to get what you get.
(5 years and 512 days ago)Top of the shelf stuff. Lovely image, solid and stable, emotions caught, crowd is there in abundance.
(5 years and 512 days ago)This is really funny too, you just need to paint in some crap, if you know what I mean (I know I know you can't do that for this contest).
(5 years and 513 days ago)ha ha ha ha ha that is hysterical, talk about the title making the photo this one sure does and the photo is grrrrrrrrrrrrrreat!
(5 years and 513 days ago)I like this one for the patterns caught and that lone person in the distance. Is your horizon line tilting to the left?? Yes, I just checked ...it is.
(5 years and 513 days ago)Congrats on two and three!
(5 years and 513 days ago)YAY YAY YAY your son won ! Congrats
(5 years and 513 days ago)Great win congrats
(5 years and 513 days ago)Hope you are "chuffed" CONGRATS on one and two
(5 years and 513 days ago)Nice one and congrats!
(5 years and 513 days ago)Hey there CONGRATS.
(5 years and 513 days ago)Ducky in monochrome. The silhouette of fly by the hand was a nice visual surprise. Good tight crop, details well seen.
(5 years and 513 days ago)Ahhh that Sony! The fellas in our photography club were selling off their Canon Marks and going with this Sony...it was the rage. I shoot with a Sony a6300 and am so happy with it as I do a lot of hiking and trekking and this camera does not feel like an anchor after an all-day jaunt.
(5 years and 514 days ago)Thank you.
(5 years and 514 days ago)It was really slight and now I checked it again and it looks OK to me.
