Yes, I understand however the reason why my brain doesn't calibrate the image is quite basic. There is within this photo a visual weight imbalance, meaning everything is to the right (patterns and all) and it is outside of the frame making me think it will tip right out and all those patterns on the edge just take my eye right out of the photo.
(5 years and 174 days ago)In our photography courses, our prof once told us to worry when NOBODY mentions a thing about your picture. So, your photo generated thought and discussion and I thank you for that, I just wish this kind of exchange would happen more often on this site.
Awwwwww he's not bad, he's just doing his job and he is sweet. Nice photo
(5 years and 175 days ago)I appreciate you telling me that ....although I do not agree it has made me think! (a good thing for a change).
(5 years and 175 days ago)great shutter speed, great photo.
(5 years and 175 days ago)Top notch. Lovely
(5 years and 175 days ago)I thought so, but why? What was your reason for doing so?
(5 years and 176 days ago)YUM YUM YUM I would buy this in a heartbeat and the mug too! I would have liked a tighter crop to eliminate that black line up top but that is just me...it is a great snack photo. Thumbs up.
(5 years and 177 days ago)LORD stop the beating of my heart! I have to try this when I get home. I would have liked to see more but you cropped it off
(5 years and 177 days ago)I want to DIVE right into this...errr, these. Blueberry melons, the newest Japanese invention....Love THIS.
(5 years and 177 days ago)Yes, I use Photomatix also and also Nik software for HDR....so much out there now. By the way, the flight from Rome to Bangkok is about 9 hours! We are waiting for you. (Chiang Mai is another hour flight north)
(5 years and 178 days ago)I like the monochrome for it is well done with good tonal ranges. I do think that the umpire lacks a certain sparkle, standing like a telephone pole showing no emotion at all with back to us. Technically you have a huge dust spot by his cap and that needs to be removed. Formatting him into the rule of 3's helps but doesn't save the image.
(5 years and 178 days ago)Your high dynamic range is well worked and gives the image depth without that "overcooked" feel (which some of us love). What EV exposure did you use? The pundits recommend a +2EV and -2EV. And what software did you use to blend your images? You are lucky to be living here inside a living museum. I loved Rome and the people were wonderful to us....we must go back there one of these days while we are still on this side of the grass

(5 years and 178 days ago)Lovely, and they say you only retain 10 percent! I like the clarity and the background to this "pile". I'm writing to you from Vietnam and today we had a coffee with a 77 year old vet who fought in the "American War" (you call it the Vietnamese War). What a sad life he has had and 15 days ago he lost his 52 year old son to a traffic accident.
(5 years and 180 days ago)You don't have any books by Plato up in your pile, but as Plato said (or it could have been Socrates) ...."remember whomever you meet that they are fighting a private war!" (or something like that).
I know I know this isn't much of a photography critique but I just felt like writing this because of your photo!
Big Congratulations!
(5 years and 180 days ago)Here is something from Wikipedia.
(5 years and 181 days ago)In March 2007, Greater Manchester Police seized two golliwogs from a shop after a complaint that the dolls were offensive..
Soon, in the UK, in order not to cause offense, it is said that Sharia Law will come into effect and all women will have to wear a hijab.
Such an innocuous and cute doll and too much PC.
I like this shot, thank you.
I like the abstract feel of this image, it makes my imagination bloom.
(5 years and 182 days ago)You find beauty everywhere, even with the smallest of the small! Good eyes. You need to get it in focus, after all, we want to see the beauty of the bug too. Keep trying.
(5 years and 183 days ago)Nice attempt with sun coming through and waking up the town. The image is full of noise and aberrations around the branches. You need to raise the ISO somewhat and have a better focus. Good attempt!
(5 years and 183 days ago)Nice closeup but you have a smudge on your lens and the blowouts on the rocks visually confuse us. I like the POV, nice and low but there are quite a few distractions.
(5 years and 183 days ago)Nice solid image and good story. Well taken and well seen.
(5 years and 183 days ago)I like the clarity of this photo especially the scene ahead of us. It feels like we are there with you.
(5 years and 185 days ago)What a sad face. I like how the fish is sharp with good usage of dof calibration on your part.
(5 years and 185 days ago)BIG BIG CONGRATULATIONS on both wins. Well deserved.
(5 years and 187 days ago)Congrats!
(5 years and 187 days ago)Congrats Photonut!
(5 years and 187 days ago)BIG Congratulations !
(5 years and 187 days ago)Big Congrats and I really like the colour palette on this one.
(5 years and 187 days ago)good eye...well seen and taken!
(5 years and 189 days ago)BEautiful and well seen! Congrats.
(5 years and 190 days ago)Lovely.
(5 years and 190 days ago)Classic...lovely....well rendered.
(5 years and 190 days ago)LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT. I know the 'ball ' is dirty and not your lens but with spot remover you could eliminate all that dirt. It is such a great shot and brought me a giggle this morning here in Vietnam.
(5 years and 190 days ago)Yes, live and learn, too bad our time is quickly running out
(5 years and 191 days ago)I like the composition of this piece. Your point of view also adds strength to the shot. Very peaceful and nice. Be careful with exposure ratings especially when you have water that is so bright. This is a very pleasing photograph. Nice work.
(5 years and 191 days ago)This is a well composed shot and doesn't look like you just walked about and snapped it. The fact you left some of the background in the photo adds to the story and your pov coming in close to the baskets gives a good solid feel. If you have photoshop you could have darkened the sky in somewhat to give a more dramatic effect. Nonetheless, it is a grand shot.
(5 years and 191 days ago)A happy snappy shot! We see this often and it brings a smile to my face.
(5 years and 191 days ago)Tight crop, really tight why did you nip off his fingers? Focus is on mending nets tho'...well seen. What colour were the nets?
(5 years and 191 days ago)I like the tight crop and pensive look of the fisherman. Colour would have been good too me thinks!
(5 years and 191 days ago)Cool shot. Where was this taken? India or Sri Lanka?
(5 years and 191 days ago)I think that this photo in monochrome :rocks: ! She is going downhill as are the buildings through the windows.
(5 years and 192 days ago)You have captured bygone days, educational and an enjoyable view.
(5 years and 192 days ago).......and me too. Always tricky with levels.
(5 years and 192 days ago)I noticed the change straight away! It does not look as washed out as before. You have heard the old adage "It's not the camera, it's the photographer!" A 4 megapixel matters naught, it's the 6 inches behind it that matters!
(5 years and 192 days ago)I think this could use a bit more brightness as it appears dull.
(5 years and 193 days ago)Not colorful this one, but a great reflection.
(5 years and 193 days ago)Please check the level on this photo as it seems to lean to the left. Also, the intense blowouts of white on the right-hand side may be brought down a touch with shadow/highlight lever. I like these kinds of photos, antique....
(5 years and 193 days ago)Good catch (excuse the fish pun). I think had you added more darkness (shadow effect) it would be a stronger image. Try it and see what happens...take your shadow light lever or your L (levels) and play with it.
(5 years and 193 days ago)A cliche photo but a good one, even tho it is a bit fishy :-O
