Sometimes I feel stupid and sometimes I'm sure I am. I often ask Uncle Google questions but never thought of that...now I am wiser Thank you once again.
(5 years and 609 days ago)I like the close tight crop and no it does not bother me that some of the leaves have been nipped as this crop keeps us in on your image. It looks to me like this was taken during high contrast time, afternoon sharp light and you DID NOT blow out the whites, looks like you understand exposure settings and you and your camera have become best friends. I wonder if you had cropped down a bit more, yes you would have nipped off even more leaves but would have eliminated the bars....hmmmm artistic decision I know....I bow to yours.
(5 years and 609 days ago)EGADS the texture is lovely and he is right in our face meaning your pov is very well done to engage us. The marginal space a wee bit tight but appropriate. Finely focused with softness through the back to keep us focused on the hare, good entry.
(5 years and 609 days ago)Yes, this is orange and fits the criteria for the contest! As a photograph it doesn't somehow transmit excitement and feels "happy snappy shot". We do not know what those fellas are doing and the amputation of the boat makes me curious as to how long it is...a mystery. It feels incomplete. However, from a technical standpoint you have nailed it. The image is sharp and that is a feat because the boat is moving and you have the exact shutter speed to freeze this nicely, furthermore the colours are natural and your contrast is well done as well showing good dynamic tones within the image.
(5 years and 609 days ago)Camaieu....a new word for me....yipeee. Thank you.
(5 years and 609 days ago)How do you do that? I mean what do I have to do to find out names of bugs and flowers like you do. I won't be able to try it here because the internet sucks but how do you find out with such ease...?
OH MY....wonderful. You caught this child at the peak of exploration, had you shot a second earlier or a second later it would not have been the same image. This image clearly shows curiosity of this little girl as she explores (and thereby learns). Everything is a wonder to her and your photograph shows this aspect. If you are going to give this as a gift to the mom I would suggest you either clone out those two legs growing in the pumpkin patch just above her head or you could clone and crop down (I know this is not allowed for these contests, so this is just a suggestion). Had you stepped back a bit more you would have shot her shoes instead of amputating her legs, but you were focused on the emotional element and you succeeded completely.
(5 years and 609 days ago)I like this photo for two reasons: 1. It is artistic, it touches my heart with it's beauty and 2. because you know the name of this wee beast! The colours are coordinated, they are orange, (I guess that would be point 3.) A bit more room at the top would not have hurt as the poor bug's antennae are about to get hit by the margin. A beautiful entry.
(5 years and 609 days ago)I agree with you that by leaving in the shadows the photo doesn't look staged , natural and unpretentious and that is good for that was exactly what you were gunning for. I do however, see more red than orange. The photo is sharp and is making my mouth water, especially with drawn butter....oh my.
(5 years and 609 days ago)I think would be a good one for a photoshoppe contest, add a few fairies, knights or damsels in distress!
(5 years and 609 days ago)Ahhhh I see it is in France, the land of love. Lucky you!
(5 years and 609 days ago)Thank you my crazy internet is weak and it will take three days to download that link...I'm sooooo pissed off
(5 years and 609 days ago)It may work well because you have that blow out of white background....try high contrast monochrome too.
(5 years and 609 days ago)The natural pathway of the human eye is to always gravitate towards the brightest spot on the "canvas" and you have placed that spot right into the grid line...well done. Sharp with soft diffusion leading us to the hot spot. This was a well thought out image and a pleasure to view and to learn from it...thank you.
(5 years and 609 days ago)This is a photograph taken not a photograph shot! You worked hard to present us these ruins in an innovative way , through the frame and it works. Nice shot. This has nice textural quality to it and would work in monochrome as well.
(5 years and 609 days ago)I am drawn to the side compositional style of this photo that hints of minimalism. The large sky was your intention and it works to "shrink" that aboandonded forlorn looking building and the foreground is perfect. My only comment is that it doesn't look sharp and I'm wondering if you took this out of a moving car?
(5 years and 609 days ago)How wonderful this old building looks and you took it from afar to show it in it's (almost) entirety. The little red and new looking tractor speaks of life, it is bright and cheery a good juxtaposition for the building which has seen better times. This photograph is nice and sharp through all the planes.
(5 years and 609 days ago)The textural quality is really great and you knew that and knew it would work beautifully in monochrome. A nice presentation and looks exotic , from Greece perhaps.
(5 years and 609 days ago)This looks like it would be a wonderful place to visit and explore and you have presented it completely enticingly. Have you tried this in monochrome?
(5 years and 609 days ago)Is this somewhere in Dubrovnik? I have a feeling I have been here. Nice catch and yes that crow in the corner is perfect. Sharp and well done.
(5 years and 609 days ago)There is a nice dreamy feel to this shot.
(5 years and 609 days ago)Nice Brian a good shot. Congrats.
(5 years and 611 days ago)I liked the story of this photo....congrats!
(5 years and 611 days ago)Ahhhh so this one was yours. Good one, liked it.
(5 years and 612 days ago)Nice, and it was YOU who gave me that link...thank you for that again.
(5 years and 612 days ago)Good eye there....like this one a lot.
(5 years and 612 days ago)Good catch, nice grid composition style.
(5 years and 612 days ago)Yes, thumbs up....wastin time for sure.
(5 years and 612 days ago)Nicely composed there , gray bias , good focus.
(5 years and 612 days ago)Nice one there....top marks.
(5 years and 612 days ago)I like your table runner too.
(5 years and 613 days ago)This is a photograph from a mind who thinks out of the box. Catching shadows so well, the triangular seat to follow the contest rules, the oil stain above in the frame that marries well with the title you have provided. Please remember that titles DO MATTER especially if you have a gallery showing it means that the title can either make your sale or break it. The only catch I have is I do wish the triangular seat was a bit sharper. Before I cast my vote I will study your image in hi-resolution. Love your thought process and your pov is strong and unusual.
(5 years and 615 days ago)What instantly drew me to this entry was the warm colour palette, you shot this during golden hours. The sharpness is present through all the planes and that triangle goes on and on into the horizon line. You took the horizon to the 2/3rd and 1/3rd rule and produced a spellbinding image that warms us and takes us on a visual journey. Tonal contrasts are well done giving this image further depth.
(5 years and 615 days ago)Did you apply the Orton Effect to this piece as it is so dreamy and artistic? I do think you need to matte this, sign this and frame this and hang it up on a wall to enjoy it fully. Photographic art....I love it.
(5 years and 615 days ago)Traingle within and triangle without....cliche but there is nothing wrong with that at all. Well rendered and a solid entry.
(5 years and 615 days ago)They are everywhere , they are everywhere aren't they? It surely takes a special artistic eye to catch this and I thank you also for the inspiration. Triangle, you bet...very creative and an exciting piece. THANK YOU.
(5 years and 615 days ago)Now why in tarnations could I have not thought of this?! Creative, out of the box and to the point showing a triangle clearly. Thank you very much for inspiring me....I shall never look at a book the same way again.
(5 years and 615 days ago)I always learn something from this side of pxyleyes. I like your final production.
(5 years and 615 days ago)What has caught my eye is the glow coming from within this building that is chock a block full of triangles. Good crop, balanced image, sharp and your sky has not even one dust spot.....KUDOS!
(5 years and 615 days ago)Wow you spotted these and shot them...good eye! I have been looking everywhere for triangles and driving myself to drink. This evening shot with long shadows cast is sharp and well composed. The horizon is dead straight, ....a solid entry.
(5 years and 615 days ago)yeah, I like it a bit better, don't you! ? Always take what reviewers tell you with a grain of salt....nay....a bushel, ultimately it is up to you.
(5 years and 615 days ago)A ship rollin'in and a sailboat "rollin" out! Good catch and nice pov. You also caught the plane and gave meat to your story. You do have to clean your sensor there are numerous dust spots throughout your image...dust the bane of all photographers. The image is soft and most likely once again you were gunning for a dreamy effect.
(5 years and 616 days ago)One is drawn to this monochrome photograph. You have good contrast, shape and texture showing and that is a plus for monochromatic shots. There is good tonal contrast also...black to white and much in between. Furthermore, there is a nice quality of light here, meaning it is soft and diffused but the patterns and texture of water easily picked up.
(5 years and 616 days ago)Nice stop action and sharp image, yes the triangle is the main focus!
(5 years and 616 days ago)I pop over to this side of pxyleyes and am always wowed. Yes, I can see a fine halo around the vase but was that your intent? This is imaginative and fun and I like it a lot.
(5 years and 616 days ago)Hi there, you have heard the quote by one of the famous photographers ...?
(5 years and 616 days ago)He said that your first 10,000 photos are the worst. he he he he he. You have a very talented eye and will go far in your pursuit of photography, and I wish you joy along the journey of discovery.
I just looked at this again and your dof is smack on the money....those handsome Scots are all sharp, well exposed. Nice
(5 years and 617 days ago)No artistic license here, this is THE FRISCO BAY ! A great shot with the inclusion of the sailboat although I would have like to see the bridge sharp as a pin, the softness does give this piece a dreamy feel.
(5 years and 617 days ago)The presentation of this piece is marvellous, straight on and he is looking right at us. The photo is not sharp. In portrait photography it is critical that the eyes are pin sharp, then all other sins can be forgiven. Nipping off his fingers is a no no. But, your point of view , coming down to his level was the way to go. I bet if you gave him a copy of this he would be thrilled to pieces.
(5 years and 617 days ago)A good gray scale however you have a belly button point of view. Had you changed the pov the photograph would have been entirely different, but this is how you, the artist, chose to present it and it is very pleasing.
(5 years and 617 days ago)A bottomless triange and that is kosher according to viewing past entries to this triangles contest. Clear and sharp, very European.
