I like this image because it is a "snuck" photo, he's not aware that you are there and the look on his face is a good indication of what he is reading. Technically well done too, sharp, exposed with some hot spots evident but overall it's the story that captivates me.
(5 years and 1021 days ago)Like this one...it is all about headwear and you give good information to fill in the gaps.
(5 years and 1021 days ago)This photo looks like you thought about it...it is well balanced, nicely centered and technically sharp. Good one.
(5 years and 1021 days ago)A handsome rather distinguished portrait that has good dof, nice exposure and a great tight crop which pulls us in...to have him looking out of the frame creates mystery and engages us as we wonder what has caught his eye.
(5 years and 1021 days ago)A great story here, sadly the image is really soft and you do have noise throughout and as you know that is an ISO and exposure problem. The colour palette is intriguing and holds our interest.
(5 years and 1024 days ago)A very well exposed, photograph with solid tonal ranges throughout. Story is felt and mood captured.
(5 years and 1024 days ago)Your image has a terrific pull on the viewers eye all thanks to your artistic compositional style. You do however have pixelation in the sky and foreground this graininess is probably becaus you are using too high an ISO value. ISO is a measurement of the camera's sensitivity to light. A higher ISO lets you use faster shutter speeds and smaller apertures, but at the cost of noise. But this photograph does take the breath away for artistry.
(5 years and 1024 days ago)Wow this was not an easy image to get so right. You have bright sky in the background that would throw off your meter and yet you have the lanterns lit, no hot spots and the hdr effect punches out the details.
(5 years and 1024 days ago)Not only is the lamp nicely exposed but there is a lovely story here and isn't that what photography is all about. Love that colour palette which marries well with the story of warmth, comfortability and a homey feel. This photograph welcomes us viewers.
(5 years and 1024 days ago)YES YES YES to your creativity, to making me smile to the skill you posses in creating this gorgeous piece. It is realistic and why oh why could I have not thought of that????
(5 years and 1028 days ago)How you photoshop people come up with such creative ideas boggles my mind. This is hilarious and reall well done. I enjoyed viewing it and your titl rock
(5 years and 1028 days ago)Very creative you are with this tryptych attempt. I fell for this hook, line and sinker! I also love the colour palette. Really a great upload.
(5 years and 1028 days ago)Hi, I'm afraid to say anything on these comments because it seems I'm getting disqualified for giving myself away. I will send you a message privately.
(5 years and 1030 days ago)Neat shot, where exactly in Toronto was this taken (my hometown)? I like the story of your photograph and the mulling of people, the young couple holding hands. Your image is well taken and very interesting. It is well balanced, no tilting seen and contrast is well handled. Looks cold (what else is new for Toronto?)
(5 years and 1030 days ago)ha ha not so trivial after all.
(5 years and 1031 days ago)Ahhh the Little Prince. “It is such a mysterious place, the land of tears.” And how often does money bring tears to the eyes. What a lovely story your photograph holds for us viewers. Well thought out by a creative mind.
(5 years and 1031 days ago)Cool catch and fits the contest to a T. I like this image for you have good tones throughout, it is sharp, and nicely composed, the angle is also very well done.
(5 years and 1031 days ago)This is the kind of photograph that makes me say "now why didn't I think of that?" Very creative...do you think it could use a touch more contrast or gamma adjustment? You have composed this well giving a lot of room for this penny to spin into.
(5 years and 1031 days ago)Your image made me smile because this is something that we all do...put money into a glass, bin, piggy bank. You do have some hot spots on the money (due to overexposure) but the photograph is full of delightful patterns making it visually attractive. AND the background does not take away but strengthens the image.
(5 years and 1031 days ago)Your creation has blown me away. What an imagination, what skill...this is exceptional work. The texture pulls it all together. Top of the shelf work and you have inspired me.....to think.
(5 years and 1033 days ago)This is a greaat shot full of story through and through. If you have PS try painting out the reddish colour of the glass and keep everything else black. You cannot do that for this contest, it's just a suggestion for you to have fun with.
(5 years and 1035 days ago)KAPOW through the roof good! Strong visual impact...good eyes.
(5 years and 1035 days ago)Good eye, lots of eye candy with this catch...should do well.
(5 years and 1035 days ago)Ahhh you worked hard on this one and it has paid off. Lovely, don't you think so too?
(5 years and 1035 days ago)Wish you would tell us where this was taken....NZ?
(5 years and 1035 days ago)You have managed to capture a visual PING! Can you feel it too when viewing this? A visual PING means we get attracted to the photograph for the elements within are well thought out and presented not only in an artistic format but also technical superiority. For example:: Your chosen DOF makes this rock! Furthermore the POV brings the image directly to us without muss or fuss and also the colour palette...ahhh blue and yellow never look as good as when they are found together...they are opposites on the colour wheel and you use this well. Sharp and all encompassing, this is a lovely entry and I have learned from it....thank you for posting inspirational images.
(5 years and 1038 days ago)Isn't it interesting how art and beauty can be found all around us...BUT ...it takes the eyes of a photographic artists to capture it and show the rest of the world what they have missed. I have no constructive comments to give you on this image....LOVE IT.
(5 years and 1038 days ago)I am always drawn to dark images, they feel so mysterious and the emotive power they generate for me glues me to the shots. What is especially lovely is th glow from these candles. Sharp, colourful, wintery feel and you get my vote for this well presented image.
(5 years and 1038 days ago)I really like that abstract flow to this photoraph, the lines and the colours visually attract me to this upload. I also think your compositional style brings a strength and balance and the contrast and saturation are skillfully done. However, the image doesn't look sharp, in the hi-res presentation it looks much better. I would encourage you to put that in your description, that the members study this in high resolution , that way your marks given to you will be higher...I'm sure. Lovely entry.
(5 years and 1038 days ago)Thank you....suddenly I feel stupid. In Thailand the Thais ask me "Canada, that is near Switzerland" ....and I roll my eyes (not at them)....BUT HERE I AM just as stupid as I think they are....sigh.
(5 years and 1038 days ago)Before it gets deleted I want you to know that it is a knock out photo and makes us think (makes me ponder). Great eyes you have.
(5 years and 1038 days ago)Ahhh Lithuania does pull on my heart strings, but I have to tell you that we are a bit leary of traveling now to Europe all thanks to bombs going off....so we stay in SE Asia. Your photo makes me want to go there tho.
(5 years and 1038 days ago)Ohhh this is lovely. You may want to change the maroon coloured stems (rather base) of those flowers into b/w as this contest calls for orange only. I love the swoosh across the canvas, that flowly feeling the sharpness is there and the dof works to bring in a dreamy image.
(5 years and 1038 days ago)HE HE HE....I wonder whose photo this is????? Careful, because brown is not orange and the modertors may disqualify you. I've checked for seepage of colour and you have a lot. Blow up the image and look at the margins of first monk, second monk and wwwwoooooaaaaaa you will see not only seepage but gray coming into the orange. use you X and remove any naughty wayward streaks...OR ....you can use your desaturate brush to remove orange or other colour outside but you will not be able to put it back unless you clone it in and then it looks wonky.
(5 years and 1038 days ago)Glad to see you here...the site is a lot of fun.
I really enjoy the photos you put up, they are always strong and I think I'm beginning to recognize your signature (photgraphic signature
(5 years and 1039 days ago)A strong image visually with a great story that engages the viewer, a peaceful place where I would not mind having a seat and cupaccino. Your photo is sharp with good exposure, well balanced richly saturated and nice contrast showing depth of tonal ranges both in mid range and high tones with no clipping seen. Just a lovely shot , through and through.
(5 years and 1040 days ago)Japan without a crowd on your street...WOW. The colours pop pop pop all over the place and this shot has a very strong visual appeal with great story to be had. Sharp and well worked in post processing it is an image worthy of being published in a magazine.
(5 years and 1040 days ago)Love everything about this shot. Well exposed, nice long exposure catches the car lights as they zoom by...it is full of story. I love the colour palette and find it soothing and atmospheric. How I wish you had told us where this was shot. Nice work.
(5 years and 1040 days ago)I love how you have shown the fragility of this little crab who , by the way, is beautifully painted out in orange. This image speaks to me, engages the viewer with eye contact is placed in accordance with the rule of 3 (I know I know rules are for fools but those guides do work to strengthen images). Nice exposure on this, and the gray zones sparkle. You did a great job on this.
(5 years and 1040 days ago)You have used the principle of juxtaposition well with that large leaf and tiny spider, our eyes enjoy seeing this...and your selective colour technique is well done...please look at the right of your leaf, there in the corner...see that pop of colour....did you mean for that to be there because if you didn't you can always go back to the photo and use your desaturation brush and take out that pop of reddish/brown.
(5 years and 1040 days ago)HOLY GUACAMOLE this is a very powerful shot, full of vibrance, the poppy is pin sharp, your selective colour out technique is flawless, exposure good and the gray zone is balanced and smartly handled. A strong and engaging image...a pleasure to review.
(5 years and 1040 days ago)WOW what power and the colour suits the "heat" of the moment. It is too bad you have such a large amount of noise on this but no doubt you took it with a very high ISO. Wonder where Oosterpoort in Groningen is....could be Jupiter?
(5 years and 1040 days ago)Ohhhh Canada. Did you know a tourist was swept away on these rocks never to be found again ? (a few years back). Nice sharp image with wave caught showing us the power of nature. Your colour palette is natural and unpretentious and the horizontal cut rule of photography works to bring us a strong and pleasing image.
(5 years and 1040 days ago)Yes, you caught the emotion and love this in black and white...they are totally absorbed into what they are doing and that helps us viewers to get engaged as well. The photo itself is clear and sharp , well composed and nicely cropped.
(5 years and 1040 days ago)You really caught good motion here and this image excites us. With no blow outs yet sharp we can't help but get into their rhythm. Colour palette is soothing, they are all engaged. Yes, this pshoto works for me.
(5 years and 1040 days ago)A knock em dead upload with a diagonal slant and I have checked your photo in high resolution and could not find spillage of orange...WELL DONE. The photograph is sharp, nice exposure and engages the viewer with delight.
(5 years and 1040 days ago)This upload of a Shinto ceremony looks like a lot of work. You do have spillage of orange on the floor, and marginal misses on the pillar but you need to go to Hi-res and enlarge to see them. More prominent are orange telltale plops on the man's head and into the background as well as the folded zig zag banner. One thing you could do, instead of redoing everything is just to go in with a desaturate brush and eliminate those sneaky oranges. It is unfortunate that the priest's face is obliterated by the banner and the woman is generously amputated. We do get the story that this is a quiet moment and most likely cameras were considered intrusive.
(5 years and 1040 days ago)Two rocks reminds me of two lovers at odds. The white plaque distracts somewhat but it surely tells us it was a bright day this day.
(5 years and 1040 days ago)You did a good job here with tonal gray zones making the photograph sparkle. Nice POV pushes this image into our eyes and gives a good initial reaction from the viewer. The pull is there also showing those homes in the distance. A nice story here.
