How about some lightsource, the bg seems to catch some light from somewhere. Also a little bit of hightlight in eyes does magic.

if you meant to have the features blurry... kudos.. if not.. you need to tweak a bit.. use contrast to smooth out the blur.. and some shading would help.. you've got a drop dead design though.. good luck..(if you alter this, and you don't have to.. just make sure you don't destroy the great form you created
