Once you create an image with an embedded clipping path then place your image into your document you'll need to access the path information or turn on the clipping path in order to turn off the background or other portion of the image you've clipped.
The steps in this tutorial describes how to accomplish this in Adobe InDesign, QuarkXPress, and Adobe PageMaker when using EPS and TIFF images from Adobe Photoshop and Corel Photo-Paint.

Alpha channels serve many purposes when editing images. For the purposes of this tutorial, we're going to create alpha channels that will contain transparency information for use as clipping paths in a page layout application.
This tutorial is not meant to be an indepth look at working with channels. I'll show you a few of the basics.
