For use with Poser 7 as well as Posers 5 or 6.
The Firefly engine in Poser can produce amazingly detailed, photorealistic renders- but it can also generate a cel-shaded look for more stylized images. Here's how-Poser's Firefly render engine can create beautiful, photorealistic images- but it can also be used to create a classic "cel-shaded" cartoon look.

For Poser versions 5 and higher.
Lighting is one of the most important components of a Poser scene. Even a simple composition can produce a dramatic render with the proper lighting- and even a great scene can be rendered flat and boring with bad lighting. This tutorial shows how to highlight certain items without over-lighting the scene.

For use with Poser 7 as well as Poser 5 or 6.
Poser 6's new lighting models (point lights, image-based lighting, ambient occlusion) provide a great deal of realism in many situations- but in this tutorial we'll use an older lighting trick to explore new depths of realism, by simulating underwater effects.

For Poser versions 4 through 7, including Pro Pack.
Poser's depth-mapped shadows allow realistic, soft shadows in most situations- but certain scenes can cause problems due to the way in which the shadow maps are generated. Here's how to fix the odd shadow-map problem!Poser uses several different kinds of lights to illuminate its scenes- spotlights, infinite lights, point lights and ambient image-based (IBL) lights. Spot and infinite lights can cast either depth-mapped shadows or ray-traced shadows.

Not all of Poser's material properties can be keyframed- but if you're willing to take a trip into the Advanced Material Room (the regular Material Room in Poser 5) you can use a special type of node to create animated textures and produce all kinds of interesting effects.

For use with Poser 5, 6 or 7 and (optionally) any version of Shade after 7.
This tutorial describes how to use Poser's Cloth Room to handle a tricky animation issue- how to have a flexible object 'attached' to an animated one without tedious hand-adjusting of posed elements. Making a Simulated Guitar Strap.

For Poser 7
This tutorial shows how to use Poser 7's Animation Layers feature to allow a figure to walk in high heels- a feature not directly available in Walk Designer.Poser's Walk Designer is a very useful tool; it can save a great deal of time when creating an animation. However, there are a couple of situations where Walk Designer needs a little help. In this tutorial we'll use Poser 7's Animation Layers feature to blend a pose into an entire walk, in three steps.

For use with Poser 7 as well as previous Poser versions back to 4.
One of the most useful features for animators is the ability to attach or "parent" a prop to any given object. The parent object can be anything from another prop to a body part like the head or a hand. Parenting a prop makes it behave as part of the parent object removing the need to keyframe the prop separately thereby avoiding the subtle slips and shifts which can make an animation look unrealistic.
