High Dynamic Range Image - 3ds-max Tutorial

We tried to detail as much as possible the steps that one has to follow, in order to help the ones with the means, but haven't used them yet. This tutorial is divided in two parts, first one concentrating on V-Ray and the second one on Brazil r/s.

Fireworks - 3ds-max Tutorial

Today we are going to create Fireworks working with 3D Studio Max 6, Particle Flow. Now Particle Flow is a new particle system that was introduced to us only in Max 6, there for this tutorial can be done in Max 6 only! Well let's not waist our time and jump right into it.

Advanced Particles System - 3ds-max Tutorial

In this tutorial we learn to setup diverse types of particles systems, attach it to Glu3D and deflectors, also a special link of geometry. All this, in a nice scene of a dancing teapot that get dirt!. The particularity of Glu3D its the ability of use liquid simulations with external particles using his PWrapper plugin. This mean that we don´t use the internal calcules of Glu3D, but the "geometry creator" with standard particles systems.

The results of this mix it´s really interesting and in some cases perfectly valid replacing the real liquids simulation created by Glu3D. Nevertheless, for precise and real liquids simulations it´s better to use Glu3D.

Vray Render - Using IRR and Quasi Monte Carlo - 3ds-max Tutorial

Let's begin with a simple scene. We used a box (editable poly), then used extrude command to create the window. The scene also had some furniture. Just to make it not too simple.

Simulating Global or Indirect Illumination with Mental Ray - 3ds-max Tutorial

Mental ray, a product of the Mental images, Inc, is the first rendering engine, which simulates the physically correction of the real light and reaction of surfaces to light. In the real world, light energy bounced off from one surface to another, causing some received-light surfaces to be secondary emitted-light ones. That's why illumination would be more even and interesting (in some senses).
In 3d graphics, however, it does not happen by default, and users have to tell the software to simulate a system of bounced lighting. There are already two methods of generating this in Max, which are Light Tracer and radiosity. Mental ray is a newly-added one, based on different technology.

About Illumination - 3ds-max Tutorial

This tutorial is about illuminating a room using sunlight, which is coming through a window (ideal for living rooms, kitchens and bedrooms).

There are many different illumination techniques, but this one is quite easy, and will use 2 different kind of lights. One is the MR Spot Light and the other is the photometric Free Area Light. Before we begin, it's very important to inform you that we will use mental ray as a render engine and 3d studio Max 8.

Global Illumination for the Beginner - 3ds-max Tutorial

Lately, global illumination has become more a science than an art. You will learn that in global illumination there are numerous ways to achieve a satisfying result, perhaps as many ways as there are those who use it.

This tutorial was created with Max 7 using mental ray version 3.3. We can only guarantee comparable results for those using the same versions of this software.

Let's get busy!
