Hi guys, in this tutorial we’ll be using Fume FX with 3ds Max to make a cool fire effect.
Fume FX is basically a fluid dynamics simulator for 3ds Max. It can be used with geometry, particles or without any of these. It can be used to make a lot of cool effects like fire, gas, etc. This tutorial being of the first ones for Fume FX on the net, we’ll keep it simple.
So lets get started!

In this tutorial, we will show you how to setup a studio lighting rig that we use mainly for vehicle rendering.
Basic to intermediate knowledge of 3DS Max is needed for this tutorial. We will be using 3DS MAX 9 for this tutorial, if you have a different version, your button configuration may be a slightly different. This process will take about 10-30 minutes, depending on your particular skill level.

For this material you must use Mental Ray.
Glowing materials are very useful to create light effects. For example a neon-light effect.
This kind of material is a light-emitting material. It will create light and shadows like an Omni Light. Let's see the steps to do!

This is a simple technique, nothing special, it maybe works for one task but not for another. So feel free to improve, or change the technique as you like, to get the result you want. Also you will need to be familiar with max, we will not explain where the different tools are or how they work.
