Creating a believable 3d model is strictly tied with an accurate definition of its materials and textures: realizing and correctly applying the textures on a model is a complex and long process in the creation of photorealistic renderings.
To complete this tutorial you will need 3ds max 5 (at least) and a graphic software like Macromedia Freehand or Fireworks (which was my choice), or Adobe Photshop or a similar software. We will not discuss the operations needed to paint in these softwares, but for our purposes we will just need a very basic understanding on how to create texts and shapes, so everybody reading this should be able to go through the process.

The concept of a character is very important in the end result. A well thought out character will be easier to produce, with a much better end result than any character that has one main premise that you hash things onto. So make sure you get you ideas down in your head from the onset, it generally saves you a lot of time in the long run with a much better end result.
For the purposes of explaining how we concept a character we will be making a character from a picture that we have drawn previously...but with a twist.

There is no 'one' right or wrong way to model a head. Everyone seems to have a technique they prefer, but there is a vast number of different ways that a person can choose to tackle the problem of modeling a head in 3-dimentions.
We've used lots of different techniques to model heads. And we will show you how, exactly.

This project was kind of inspired by Frankenstein. After watching the movie I thought I could create a better freak than that! So I did…. God knows why?
I have to say I had nothing to start off with on paper. Its not that I’m bad at drawing, its just that the project was so spontaneous. Onto the 3d stuff I said to myself and the design was clear in my head, man Vs lantern. lantern wins over man simple, ‘Magic Lantern man’. I would have to confess if you want to do this properly make a design on paper first

This tutorial was made based the development the my last project: Dead Twice. In this i'll explain the techniques of the modeling, as well to the mapping and texturing. It's possible which my techniques aren't the more used for animations, but I'm a beginner with animations, so, I'll explain here, are experiences, concepts and suggestions of the many artists.
