First of all, this tutorial is not designed for those who have no experience with 3D studio max. If you are just beginning to use Max, then we suggest you go over the Fiat 500 tutorial before trying this one as it may seem like we don't explain much and move very fast here. If you have done the Fiat 500 tutorial then this should present no problems for you.
Secondly, we're not going to go into super fine detail in this tutorial due to time constraints. However, if you want to add more detail than we have added, then feel free to do so using the techniques you learn.

This tutorial is for the creation of Low-Poly "Portable Game Resolution" real-time characters. This tutorial is being made with 3D Studio Max and Photoshop and all program-specific instructions are for those programs. The basic techniques can be transferred to other applications if you are already very familiar with those programs.

This tutorial will take you through all the necessary steps to create and develop a character for Unreal Tournament 2004 using the Unreal Engine 2 that comes with the game. We will walk you through each step from concept design,
an overview of low-poly modeling, un-wrapping, texturing, rigging, animating, and importing your character into
Unreal Tournament. We will be using Autodesk’s 3ds Max 9, Adobe’s Photoshop CS2, Unreal Editor 3.0, and a few
3 rd party applications that we will mention along the way.
