In this tutorial, we will show you the steps we used to design this rusty old building with dusky sky in Photoshop. In order to balance the image and make it not too dark, we also added some fresh grass textures on top of it.
Along the way, we will be using lots of layer blending and image adjustment techniques. Also some basic image transformation techniques will be used to create depth, as well as an interesting way to render some dynamic lighting effect.

Commonly overlooked by design newbies, and found in most design programs, the Pen Tool is something you really should know how to use. If you are serious about making graphics and read this article, the pen tool will soon be your best friend.
To give you an example of what can be done with the pen tool; we drew the site's banner, matching desktop picture, and this article's header in Adobe Illustrator with the pen tool, we then imported the graphics into Photoshop to put on the finishing touches like blurs and reflections. Photoshop also has a pen tool and can be used to draw with but it's used a bit differently, Illustrator is really where you can make use of it for drawing.

Ok, so in The Pen Tool Part 1 we went over the very basics of what the pen tool does, what vector graphics are, and a quick and dirty on how to start drawing with the pen tool. This time we'll do our best to show you how to really do some drawing since we already got the basics out of the way. Once you know how to draw with the pen tool, you can also use it to make complicated selections in Photoshop and a number of other useful things.
